These chocolates were imported from Japan and sent to me by a friend of mine. I planned to share them with the rest of my family in a few days. Today, my nephew snuck downstairs while his parents weren’t looking, broke the seals, ate the chocolate and then just left everything open. Now, these chocolates and a few more have been annihilated by ants. When questioned about it (after he confessed to eating the chocolate), he claimed that he wasn’t the one who had ‘asked the ants to eat it’ and claimed that it was thereby my fault? His parents didn’t completely agree with him, but still didn’t do anything, claiming that I should have made sure there were ‘no ants in my house to begin with’. The kids is 11 going on 12. There was about 7x more chocolate that got ruined plus some other food I own. I genuinely want to know if this was my fault or not. Is there even a way to completely ant proof a house without going through too much of a hassle?
